Mangistau oblast akimat, Horgos International Frontier Cooperation Center signed memorandum of cooperation
Aktau. April 21. Kazakhstan Today - Akimat of Mangistau oblast and Horgos International Frontier Cooperation Center concluded the memorandum of cooperation within the II Caspian forum in Aktau on Thursday, the agency reports.
The memorandum outlines the main directions of cooperation in the sphere of carrying out of joint work directed at assistance in investments attraction, mutual rendering information support, and mutual exchange of experience in the areas corresponding to the main directions of the activity of the parties.
According to the program of further development of Horgos International Frontier Cooperation Center for 2007 - 2011, the seaport Aktau is defined as strategic port-regulator in the structure of the Uniform transport-logistical system of the Central Asian transport-industrial corridor.
As it was informed earlier, construction of Horgos International Frontier Cooperation Center is one of the largest investment projects in Kazakhstan directed at simplification of trade with China and, mainly, at development of transport trade.
Construction of the center began on June 3, 2006 by the initiative of the leaders of China and Kazakhstan. Its area totals more than 15 square kilometers. The main part of the center, the construction of which is planned to be finished in June, 2008, intended for development of trade and tourism. The premises for presentations and warehousing, processing of export production and duty-free trade will be constructed here.
Central Asian countries are the important commodity market of the Chinese manufacture, first of all, production of light industry, and China - the important importer of oil, steel and raw materials exported by Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries.
Owing to construction of the railway Zhezkazgan - Beyneu, that will become a part of the transit corridor border of China - port Aktau - Baku - Georgia - Turkey - the European countries, transportation of the Chinese cargoes to the European ports will be reduced from 40 till 12 days. The railway will pass from the center to the southwest of the country on the territory of four oblasts: Karaganda, Kyzylorda, Aktobe and Mangistau.
