Environmental Protection Ministry considers opportunity of imposing of administrative penalty on Tengizchevroil
Astana. April 22. Kazakhstan Today - The Ministry of Environmental Protection of Kazakhstan considers the possibility of imposing on Tengizchevroil administrative penalty. The Minister of Environmental Protection Nurlan Iskakov said at the governmental hour in Majilis of the Parliament on Monday, the agency reports.
"The question of administrative penalty at the rate of the caused damage that is 37 billion KZT is now being considered, N. Iskakov said.
The Minister reminded that Tengizchevroil has been fined for waste disposal: KazakhOilAktobe 8 billion, Tengizchevroil - 37 billion KZT.
"According to the legislation, the Nature Protection Office of Public Prosecutor, having considered this administrative case, has ordered our body to apply this norm - the administrative penalty - at the rate of the caused damage of last December that made 37 billion tenge," N. Iskakov said in the interview.
Tengizchevroil Company was founded on April 6, 1993 by the Republic of Kazakhstan and the American Company Chevron Overseas. The shareholders of Tengizchevroil are American Chevron (50 %) and ExxonMobil Kazakhstan (25 %), the National Company KazMunaiGas - 20 % and the Russian-American joint venture Lukarko - 5 %.
