Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan agreed on creation of free trade zone

Astana. April 22. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan agreed on creation of free trade zone. The President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said at the press conference, following the results of the negotiations with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, the agency reports. "Mutual aspiration is to increase trade turnover between our countries. We have come to conclusion on necessity of creation of the special working group that would prepare the documents on free trade zone between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan," I. Karimov said. "It is necessary to create maximum conditions, to remove all obstacles and barriers on the way to trade between our countries." "It is a question of unification of customs and other duties and introduction of various preferences that could facilitate and improve mutual trade," the President added. According to the official data, commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in 2007 reached more than $1.4 billion.
