Kazakhstan interested in consortium for construction of Rogun hydroelectric power station - Nazarbayev
Astana. May 13. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan is interested in taking part in consortium for construction of Rogun hydroelectric power station. The leader of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev informed at the press conference, following the results of the negotiations with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on Monday, the agency reports.
"We are interested in hydropower resources of Tajikistan. If hydroelectric power station works, Kazakhstan will take part both as a shareholder, and as an investor," the President of Kazakhstan said.
He noted that Kazakhstan is interested in other hydropower objects of Tajikistan.
"We are interested in construction of electro line through Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan to buy hydroelectric power of Tajikistan," N. Nazarbayev explained.
As it was informed earlier, Tajikistan, having experienced difficult energy situation last winter, plans to complete construction in the near future Rogun hydroelectric power station. For this purpose Tajikistan needs resources and consent of other neighboring Central Asian states. However, Tajikistan has not received Uzbekistan's support yet.
