May gold and exchange currency reserves of Kazakhstan increased by 3.4 %

Almaty. June 3. Kazakhstan Today - International reserves of the country as a whole (in current prices), including the money of the National Fund (by preliminary data $24 054.8 million), have grown by 3.4 % and have made $45 540.9 million, the agency reports referring to the message of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Monday. Growth of net international reserves of the National Bank in May, 2008 caused decrease of monetary base by 10.5 % (or by 160.9 billion KZT). Purchase currency operations on in the internal currency market and receipt of currency in the government accounts have been partially neutralized by operations of external debt service of the government. There was a reduction of the rests in the correspondent accounts of the second-tier banks in foreign currency in the National Bank. As a result, net foreign currency reserves (hard currency) have increased by $691.3 million, assets in gold - by $60.9 million as a result of growth of its price in the world markets by 1.4 %. In current prices net international reserves of the National Bank have grown by 3.6 % (or by $752.2 million).
