European Union renewed power diplomacy in Caspian Sea region
Almaty. June 12. Kazakhstan Today - The European Union (EU) has renewed power diplomacy in the Caspian Sea region, the agency reports referring to information of Neftegaz. RU.
The chairman of the delegation and the EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alan Vadams informed yesterday at the session of the Caspian Business Integration Club that the EU Energy Commissioner Andris Pibalgs is on a visit in Kazakhstan.
According to A. Vadams, after A. Pibalgs's visit to Ashgabat he is expected in Baku.
"The EU Commissioner for Foreign Relations and the European Policy of Neighborhood Benita Ferrero-Waldner has been to Azerbaijan 5 - 6 times. All this demonstrates that Azerbaijan is the strategic partner for Europe from the political point of view, and, certainly, Azerbaijan for Europe - a very important country from the economic point of view. Azerbaijan has big future. It has many talents and ample opportunities for investments," A. Vadams emphasized.
The EU Commissioner mission is aimed at maintenance of transit of Turkmen gas to Europe through Azerbaijan. Thus, Europe has an opinion that Azerbaijan almost deliberately counteracts transit through the territory of Kazakhstan and Turkmen energy carriers. The government of Azerbaijan should make efforts to inform the EU Commissioner of understanding of commercial component of transit policy of the country, the message informs.
