Almaty. August 5. Kazakhstan Today - Inflation index in Almaty for July, 2008 has made 0.7 % that is below average republican parameter by 0.2 %, the agency reports referring to the press service of akim of the city on Monday. According to the press service, positive tendency of decrease of inflation index is connected with activization of work on food provision and stabilization of prices done by the city authorities since April, 2008. The main directions were: expansion of competition, elimination of administrative barriers, and maintenance of free access to food market of agricultural producers. "As a result of the carried out work and seasonal reduction of prices for fruits and vegetables, rate of inflation on articles of food has begun to decrease. For the last four months of 2008, growth of prices for articles of food was below than in the first quarter of 2008 by 0.7 % and made 4.2 %," the press service noted. Almaty and Kostanay, Northern Kazakhstan and Akmola oblasts signed on June, 2008 three cooperation agreements to restrain inflationary processes in Almaty. "The agreements provide for demand for grain for the flour-grinding and baking enterprises of the city. Annual volumes of delivery of grain will total 283 thousand tons, the press service specified. The city authorities signed memorandum of stabilization of prices for some kinds of articles of food with a number of large trade enterprises of the city. "Almaty city plans the project of construction and operation of logistical center GEGA by Open Company Global Ecological Group Almaty. The project provides for construction of the logistical center of A+ class on processing and storage of foodstuff. The cost of the project reaches $80 million. Realization of the project will allow creation in the city of the necessary stocks of foodstuffs and, as a consequence, will smooth seasonal fluctuations of prices," the press service of Almaty akim informed.
