Kashagan development project to cause powerful technogenic influence on environment - ecologists
Almaty. August 13. Kazakhstan Today - Kashagan development project developed by consortium Agip KCO will render powerful technogenic influence on the environment. The representatives of public association, Kazakhstan Wildlife Management Society and some of the nongovernmental organizations: Tabigat, Globe, Caspian Sea tabigaty, and Tan informed during the press conference on Tuesday in Almaty, the agency reports.
According to the joint message of the ecological organizations, on August 7, 2007 public hearings on declarations of intentions for the subsequent stages of development of Kashagan deposit took place. According to the requirements of Ecological Code of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Wildlife Management Society held public ecological examination of the materials of the declaration.
Following the results of the conclusion of public ecological examination, "the presented declaration does not correspond to the requirements of the nature protection legislation, does not provide ecological safety, preservation of biological resources of the Caspian Sea, and harms the environment and health of the population of the region."
