Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan need to modernize port and marine infrastructure

BAKU. February 22. KAZINFORM. The National Secretary of TRACECA Azerbaijan, Akif Mustafayev, informed Trend that it needs to modernize and reconstruct port, marine and other infrastructures in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to complete this process till the launch of the railway link through the route of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars. According to him, these projects will bring dividends to Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. Kazakhstan is a significant country connecting the transport corridor passing through Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia with China. It needs to carry out large work in the ports of Aktau and Baku. In addition, it needs to improve the marine transport. Particularly it is necessary to purchase large ferries having a capacity of shipping large number of trains, as well as dry cargo. Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan consider the question of extending route of container train till Dostik station on the border of Kazakhstan and China. This train was launched last year. It should help attract cargo transporters from China and Europe. The cargos are transported from Poti Port of Georgia to the Aktau Port of Kazakhstan via Baku and in the opposite direction, Kazinform quotes BakuToday
