August gold and exchange currency reserves of Kazakhstan increased by 2.8 %
Almaty. September 5. Kazakhstan Today - International reserves of the country in whole (in current prices), including money of the National Fund (according to preliminary estimates $26 555.8 million), have grown by 2.8 % and have made $48 302.0 million, the agency reports referring to the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Growth of net international reserves of the National Bank in August, 2008 caused expansion of the monetary base by 4.9 % (or by 81.1 billion KZT).
Operations on purchase of currency in the internal currency market and delivery of currency on the government accounts have been partially neutralized by operations on service of external debt of the government. There was a decrease of the rests on correspondent accounts of the second-tier banks in foreign currency in the National Bank.
Net foreign currency reserves (hard currency) increased by $969.4 million, assets in gold have decreased by $254.0 million as a result of the operations and decrease of its price in the world markets by 8.8 %.
In current prices net international reserves of the National Bank have grown by 3.4 % (or by $715.4 million).
