Astana. October 6. Kazakhstan Today - The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Karim Masimov, held the meeting with the President of the Board of Directors of Arcelor Mittal Company, Lakshmi Mittal, on Friday, the agency reports referring to the prime minister's press service.
According to the press service, the interlocutors discussed the pressing questions of manufacture at the Karaganda metallurgical combine and prospects of development of the company.
As for the current situation on Karmetcombinat, L. Mittal noted that "the company has faced the consequences of global economic crisis that caused decrease of demand of production of the company."
"Our consumers buy less than steel, prices for production decrease; therefore, in current conditions we have made a decision to lower our manufacture. Now we work over production plan, which will allow us to satisfy production demand when it grows," L. Mittal said.
L. Mittal assured that "despite of the problems caused by global economic crisis, Arcelor Mittal plans to continue the investment program in Kazakhstan and to adhere to the earlier made plans." "We will further invest in Kazakhstan, in particular, in Karmetcombinat, having doubled its capacities," the chairman of the metallurgical company said.
According to the press service, K. Masimov as a whole has approved the long-term plan of development of the company.
