VII session of secretariat of Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions began in Almaty

Almaty. October 28. Kazakhstan Today - VII session of the secretariat of Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions under the presidency of the chairman of the secretariat, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, began in Almaty today, the agency reports. "Today Kazakhstan has proved itself as the state with a stable political system, public concord and stability. Owing to the reasonable combination of the interests of all 130 ethnoses of Kazakhstan, the citizens of the country have the right to worship. Owing to this we have managed to avoid conflicts and to reach stable development of the country," K. Tokayev stated in his salutatory speech to the session participants. He emphasized that "at the present stage the congress has the objective of securing for itself the status of the universal dialogue platform that would allow religious leaders and the international organizations conducting constructive dialogues on the important problems of the present and development of joint ways of their solution." "We suggested - the Role of religious leaders in construction of the tolerant world in conditions of globalization to be the topic of the plenary session of the next congress." "We consider that globalization is one of the most effective factors influencing further development of the modern civilization," he noted. K. Tokayev made the proposal to shift the date of the next forum from September, 2009 for October 14-15 or July 5-6, 2009, as September of 2009 coincides with the main religious holidays of Moslems.
