Kazakhstan Today - The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan began practical realization of the international investment megaproject of creation of the uniform system of transit in Europe - Asia direction, the agency reports referring to the press service of akim of Zhambul oblast on Friday. "The project on organization of the transcontinental road corridor - Western Europe - Western China that passes on the territory of Kazakhstan and Russia to the countries of the Western Europe is the largest project in Kazakhstan. Realization of the project will begin in 2009," the press service informs. The project will provide high level services including a combination of excellent technical availability of the corridor along with the modern intellectual system and logistical centers services. According to the press service, the basis of the corridor in Kazakhstan is transit corridors Samara - Shymkent and Tashkent - Shymkent - Almaty - Horgos. This route passes through the cities of St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, Orenburg, Aktobe, Kyzylorda, Shymkent, Taraz, Korday, Almaty, Horgos, Urumchi, Lyanyugan and makes 8445 kilometers, including: in Russia - 2333 kilometers, in Kazakhstan - 2787 kilometers, on the territory of Zhambyl oblast - 480 kilometers, and in China - 3425 kilometers. At present, the project institutes have finished the design and research work. The project, following the results of 10 months, made 8 384 010.29 thousand KZT. Construction of the road in Zhambyl oblast will begin in 2009.
