Hyundai signed agreement on delivery of equipment for underground of Almaty

Almaty. November 18. Kazakhstan Today - The South Korean company Hyundai Corp. signed the preliminary agreement on delivery to Kazakhstan of the equipment intended for under construction underground of Almaty, the agency reports referring to RosBusinessConsulting (RBC). "According to the concluded memorandum of mutual understanding, the Korean company will deliver trains, escalators and other equipment for under construction underground of Almaty," the message states. According to RBC, the cost of the equipment makes $300 million. Purchase of a rolling stock of the Russian manufacture was originally planned, however in conditions of seismicity of Almaty the preference has been given to the South Korean structures. The Almaty underground has been under construction since the end of 1980. Commissioning is planned by 2010.
