Gas pipeline - Central Asia - China to be put into operation by the end of 2009
Urumchi. December 19. Kazakhstan Today - The transnational gas pipeline - Central Asia - China will be put into operation by the end of 2009. The General Director of the Chinese company Trans-Asia Gas Pipeline, Sun Bo, informed at the press conference on Thursday, the agency reports with reference to Xinhua.
According to Sun Bo, the construction of the first pipeline for transportation of natural gas to China has been going successfully. The gas main starts in Turkmenistan and passes through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Its general extent will make 3636 kilometers. China will annually buy from the Turkmen party 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas within 30 years after the gas pipeline is put into operation.
As it became known, China will allocate $7.31 billion for construction of the gas pipeline - Central Asia - China. It will represent the system consisting of two parallel gas-supplying threads. Its commissioning is planned for 2012.
40 billion cubic meters a year will be transported through the new gas pipeline, 30 of which will be transported to China and 10 - to the southern regions of Kazakhstan.
