Nazarbayev suggested Medvedev to develop strategic plan for 10 years
Almaty. December 22. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, suggested the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, to develop the strategic plan of cooperation for 10 years, the agency reports with reference to the official mass media.
During the meeting the Presidents emphasized that the plan of joint actions of Kazakhstan and Russia for 2007 - 2008 had been realized and in this connection the leaders have signed the new plan for the next two years.
As informed earlier, the Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia at the informal summit of the CIS leaders in Borovoy signed the joint statement.
The plan covers all spectrum of the Kazakhstan-Russian cooperation. The economy, fuel, and energy sector, space, transport and communications, military-technical, scientific and humanitarian policies - will be priority spheres in mutual relations. N. Nazarbayev suggested D. Medvedev to develop the strategic plan of cooperation for 10 years.
According to the official mass media, despite many problems, Astana and Moscow managed to achieve unprecedented growth of bilateral cooperation. Only for the first 10 months of 2008 commodity turnover has increased by 24 % and has exceeded $17 billion.
According to the press service of Kazakhstan President, during the first day of the summit the parties discussed the problems connected with the world financial crisis, measures on improvement of architecture of international and regional safety. The CIS and SCO leaders have exchanged opinions on the urgent questions of development of the regional cooperation in the format of such associations, as CSTO and EurAsEC.
Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus have achieved considerable successes in the question of regional integration. According to the official mass media, these countries have already prepared for creation of the Customs Union. The countries need to sign only 12 documents.
The meeting participants emphasized the importance of similar meetings, which allow discussing the questions of further cooperation in an informal mode
