Oil extraction in Kazakhstan to decrease by 3 million tons
Astana. January 20. Kazakhstan Today - The Minister of Economics and Budgetary Planning of Kazakhstan, Bahyt Sultanov, informed oil extraction in Kazakhstan will, probably, decrease by 3 million tons in 2009 in comparison with the forecast, the agency reports.
"The official forecast remains in volume of 79 million tons of manufacture of oil in 2009, but in our forecast there is an opportunity of reduction by 3 million tons of oil at the price of $40 for a barrel as some deposits, owing to the change of their profitability, can afford some reductions," B. Sultanov said.
He noted that the government forecasts curtailment of manufacture of metallurgical production by 1 %, taking into account decrease of volume of manufacture in 2008.
