Kazakhstan large companies to spend KZT 150 bln on environmental protection measures

KAZINFORM /Bauyrzhan Mukanov/ According to Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control of the Kazakh Ministry of Environment Murat Rakhimbergenov, large companies of Kazakhstan will spend KZT 150 bln for environmental protection measures this year, Kazinform correspondent reports. «Therewith Kazakhstan’s participation will be increased from 80 to 95% and the number of jobs will be from 60 thousand to 80 thousand people. 43 large companies responsible for 80% of all harmful emissions into the atmosphere spent KZT 123 bln to reduce emissions», M. Rakhimbergenov said. «In particular, the power station (GRES) of «Kazakhmys» LLP reduced ash emissions by 2 900 tons and «PetroKazakhstan Kumkol Resources» reduced them by 2 184 tons through utilization of the associated gas of emissions», he noted.
In general, as a result of environmental activities in the country air emissions decreased by 149 thousand tons compared to 2007.
