Governor of South Kazakhstan region appointed
SHYMKENT. March 4. KAZINFORM. /Tatyana Pylayeva/ Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov has arrived in Shymkent today. There he has taken part in the special session of the regional maslikhat; Kazinform reports.
The Premier introduced candidature of Askar Myrzakhmetov for the post of akim (governor) of the region for approval of the maslikhat deputies. Until now A. Myrzakhmetov worked as Chairman of the Board of Directors of «Ontustik» Socio Entrepreneurial Corporation. From 1997 till 2006 he worked as Adviser to the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Vice Minister, First Vice Minister, Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan. From April 2006 till September 2007 he held office of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan.
The deputies approved the candidature of Askar Myrzakhmetov by the majority of votes.
