ASTANA. April 21. KAZINFORM /Aigul Tulekbayeva/ In the 1st quarter of 2009 inflation in Kazakhstan made 2% against December 2008. In March it totaled 8.9% against the same month in 2008. Minister of Economy and Budget Planning Bakhyt Sultanov has made it public at the Government’s session today.
According to him, the devaluation of the tenge resulted in rise in prices for non-food products which are imported primarily. “In January their prices dropped by 0.4%; in February-March we witnessed 1.8% and 1.5% rise correspondingly”, the Minister said.
“Thus the influence of the tenge devaluation on inflation processes was not significant”, B. Sultanov resumed.
