Almaty to host India Expo-2009 exhibition

ALMATY. May 12. KAZINFORM /Sara Mustafina/ India Expo-2009 exhibition, a large commercial event in the Central Asian region, is to kick off in Almaty on May 21-23, Kazinform has learnt from Ambassador of India to our country Ashok Sajjanhar. Cooperation between India and Kazakhstan develops actively today, the Diplomat noted. Thus, in 2005 the bilateral trade turnover made USD 120 mln and in 2006 – USD 210 mln. In 2008 this figure reached USD 368 mln. “The recent visit of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to India in January 2009 gave a new impulse to our bilateral relations in political, strategic and commercial spheres. It was decided to raise these relations to the level of strategic partnership. Several important agreements in oil and gas sector, peaceful usage of nuclear energy, space exploration were signed in the course of the visit”, the Ambassador reminded. The purpose of India Expo-2009 is demonstration of potential of India’s industry. The event is organized by the India Trade Promotion Organisation and the Indian Embassy in Kazakhstan. Enterprises of small and medium businesses representing different sectors - energy, oil and gas, nuclear industry, auto-industry, IT-technologies, pharmacy, jewelry, agriculture, metallurgical and steel-making are to take part in the event.
