KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Taking the floor at the XII Congress of Nur Otan Party President Nursultan Nazarbayev drew the participants’ attention to the necessity of clean energy development. In this connection the President informed of the several projects on expansion of energy capacities in the regions and development of the national electric power systems being realized at present. The Head of the State highlighted that construction of Balkhash Thermal Power Plant with the participation of Samsung-KEPCO consortium was to start this year. “The agreement has already been signed. The capacity of the plant will make 2660MW”, he noted. “The most important direction is application of the renewable sources of energy through usage of wind force. We have all natural resources and special places for this, for example, Jungar Gates in Almaty oblast. It is always windy and sunny there within 300 days a year. But the technologies are very expensive. We should adopt a special law and find other sources of financing. We must do work on renewable sources of energy. The whole world lays emphasis on this problem. We should fully answer the country’s current and perspective demand in electric power. By 2015 energy intensity of economies must be reduced by 10%”, N. Nazarbayev said.
