SEMEY. May 27. KAZINFORM /Lina Slavina/ Kazakhstan Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sauat Mynbayev paid a working visit to Kurchatov town of East Kazakhstan. On his opinion, the breakthrough projects of the Nuclear Technology Park have not fulfiled their commercial potential; Kazinform reports. A modern electron accelerator at the Kurchatov Nuclear Technology Park was launched on the eve of 2009. The radiation technologies complex is the first breakthrough facility which was created within the the Strategy of Kazakhstan’s industrial and innovative development. It is designed to produce industrial commodities. Today it produces polyethylene and uncured rubber. In the near future local scientists plan to supply medicaments. The Minister surveyed the complex, and noted that the main objective of Kazakhstan's scientists is to raise the competitiveness of domestic products and supply them to foreign markets. According to S.Mynbayev, our projects still do not earn commercial profit. Afterwards, going to Ust-Kamenogorsk, Sauat Mynbayev visited the public utility company where he discussed the issues of the thermal power station-1 reconstruction. *** Kurchatov Atomic power station project postponed Ц Energy Minister SEMEY. KAZINFORM /Lyudmila Malko/ During the working visit to Kurchatov town Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sauat Mynbayev said that that the atomic power station construction in Kurchatov is going to be postponed; Kazinform reports. The construction is postponed till 2013-2015, the reason being instability of the world financial situation. The Minister got acquainted with other projects implementation in the Nuclear Technology Park. Having surveyed the operations of the thermal power station in Semey, Sauat Mynbayev noted that thermal power plants of the city will be enlarged.
