ASTANA. June 1. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ “Building contracts on realization of “West Europe – West China” project are planned to be signed in October – September, 2009”, Kazakh Minister of Transport and Communications Abelgazy Kussainov has said at the Government Hour in the Majilis (Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament).
“Mobilization and construction works to the amount of KZT 31 bln will be started by the end of the year. Full-scale work in Aktobe, Kyzylorda, South Kazakhstan and Zhambyl regions will be started in 2010. Main trade partners of Kazakhstan are interested in development of the transport corridor. The Ministry signed memos with Russia and China, the memo with the European Union is being prepared”, the Minister said.
A.Kussainov noted that the work on modernization of the regulatory and legislative framework on the issues of concession was held in 2008. Preparatory activities and consultations on a range of concessional projects in the road-transport sector were held as well. Stretch of the roads will be up to 846 km, the cost is up to KZT 465.6 bln. 71 companies from 17 countries received tender documentations. The planned start-up time is 2010.
The Minister noted that the concession will allow to accelerate and start works on all projects with total length of 846 km simultaneously with the accomplishment by 2013, Besides, it will improve security and cut down exploitation expenses.
