KAZINFORM. /Muratbek Makulbekov/ "Damage caused by oil thefts through connections to pipelines has not decreased", General Manager on Business Promotion of "KazMunaiGaz" JSC Serikbek Yelshibekov has said at a press conference in the Astana Radisson Hotel today. According to him, this problem is planned to be considered within the framework of Kazakhstan Energy Week in September 2009. "The current legislation does not allow to fight against oil thefts effectively. The statutory wordings concerning various aspects of thefts are obscure", he noted. S. Yelshibekov stressed that at present the Parliament deputies have initiated a draft law on amendments to the legislation aimed at increasing responsibility for illegal ties-in to pipelines.
