Issues of competition at financial market considered in Almaty
ALMATY. September 25. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ A round table titled: "Managing Implementation of Competition Policy at the Financial Market" has taken place today in Almaty. The event was organized by "Center for Development and Protection of Competition Policy" jointly with the Agency of Kazakhstan for Protection of Competition. Heads of regulative, state bodies, financial associations, banks, pension funds and insurance companies took part in the event. They discussed the issues of development for competition and principles of its regulation at the financial market. According to Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Grigory Marchenko the issue on task sharing between the Kazakh Financial Supervision Agency and Agency of Kazakhstan for Protection of Competition is of great importance for the financial market as a whole. According to the Head of the National Bank three components as banking exchange offices, nonbanking exchange offices including those of "Kazpost" JSC are needed here for standard competition. "Some years ago there were 56 exchange offices in Almaty "Kazpost". At present there is only one". According to the National Bank "Kazpost" should take an active part to address the issue especially in small towns and municipalities. G. Marchenko informed that in some regions people go to regional centers which far from their one to exchange currency.
