Energy Ministry: 2 scenarios if Uzbekistan exits parallel power supply system
ASTANA. September 28. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ Today at the Government's session Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sauat Mynbayev has made a report on the energy situation in the country. He reminded of Uzbekistan's intention to possibly exit the system of energy supply which is parallel with Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
"If Uzbekistan does not leave, the Zhambyl GRES will work in two-block regime. If it exits the system, we will work in constant four-block regime which is going to be a big loading. However the northern regions of Kyrgyzstan will withstand" Mynbayev said.
"In whole, if we leave this system we could solve the problem by putting into operation the second North-South electric power line. On the other hand, in this situation northern Kyrgyzstan will depend on Toktagul-Bishkek line. First, there is a problem with reservation. Second, if we withdraw the line with Kyrgyzstan, we will face water supply problems in the next vegetation period. We do not intend to worsen the situation in the northern Kyrgyzstan. We must take a constructive decision on the issue", Mynbayev stressed.
According to him, negotiations on the problem with the Kyrgyz side are underway at present.
