Three Kazakh banks must increase their own capital - Y. Bakhmutova

ASTANA. October 1. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Three Kazakh banks - Dana Bank, Kakommertsbank and Metrocombank are searching for strategic partners due to entry into force of new requirements on minimum size of the banks' own capital since October 1, 2009. Yelena Bakhmutova, Chairman of the Financial Supervision Agency informed at a briefing in the Senate today. "All of them submitted documents proving presence of strategic partners. However this does not mean that they will satisfy the demands of the regulator and become investors. Therefore I have said that the banks are in "s risk zone" at present", Y. Bakhmutova noted. According to her, the banks will probably finish capitalization till Nov 1. Three more banks will be reorganized in regional banks. In accordance with the new requirements, the minimum size of the commercial banks' own capital in Astana and Almaty must make no less than USD 5 bln. For the housing-construction and saving banks this figure makes USD 3 bln while for the regional ones - USD 2 bln.
