Kenkiyak-Kumkol pipeline to function in full capacity by Dec 2009 - Vice Minister of Energy

ALMATY. October 6. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ Kenkiyak-Kumkol oil pipeline will function in full capacity by December 2009; Kazinform refers to Lyazzat Kiinov, Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources who is participating in KIOGE-2009 oil and gas exhibition in Almaty at present. Kenkiyak-Kumkol pipeline is a large system connecting Western Kazakhstan with the country's central and eastern regions. Now the pipeline's capacity is 10 mln tons. Later the figure is planned to rise up to 20 mln tons. Putting the pipeline into service will let deliver oil from the western regions to the eastern markets and oil refineries in Pavlodar and Shymkent. The Vice Minister also reminded of implementation of other large projects on oil transportation. These are the projects on construction of a gas pipeline form Turkmenistan to China running through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. "This pipeline gives an opportunity to transit 30 bln cubic meters of gas through Kazakhstan", L. Kiinov said. The pipeline also provides southern regions with an opportunity to pump up to 10 bln cubic meters of gas. Besides, Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline will be built. It is expected to solve the social issues of the South Kazakhstan and provision of the southern oblasts with gas.
