Kazakhstan to launch at least one nuclear power plant by 2020 - Energy Minister
ASTANA. October 8. KAZINFORM. /Kanat Kulshmanov/ Kazakhstan plans to launch at least one nuclear power plant till 2020. Kazakh Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sauat Mynbayev has made it public at the Government's sitting today.
"By 2020 Kazakhstan may occupy 14 per cent of the world fuel elements production and is planning to put into operation at least one nuclear power plant on its territory", the Minister said. He noted that by 2020 Kazakhstan intends to take up 16% of the world conversion capacity and 7% of enrichment capacity. Fuel pellets production will increase as well and make up to 12%.
