Atyrau Oil Refinery, China's Sinopec Engineering entered into USD 1 bln 40 mln contract

ATYRAU. October 29. KAZINFORM /Andrey Sokolov/ Today Atyrau Oil Refinery LLP and Chinese Company Sinopec Engineering have entered into an agreement on construction of a turnkey complex on aromatic hydrocarbons production. USD 1 bln 40 mln are to be invested in the project. The term of the project's implementation is 2009-2013. Sinopec Engineering which is the head contractor in reconstruction of the Atyrau Oil Refinery will apply ParamaX BTX technologies of Axens (France) company. As the press service of Atyrau Oil Refinery informs, carrying out the project will allow the plant to join single petrochemical network of the country as well as to implement innovation technologies. The project provides for production of up to 133, 000 tons of benzol and 496, 000 tons of paraxylene - valuable raw materials for petrochemical industry. The quality of petrol produced today will be improved and raised to Euro-4 standard; their ecological characteristics will be improved. The venture will also specialize in production of diesel fuel meeting Euro-4 standards. "Construction of complex on aromatic hydrocarbons production is an important event in the history of whole domestic petrochemical industry. The projects is realized within the Program on Development of Kazakhstan's petrochemical industry for 2009-2013 approved by the Government as of Dec 29, 2007", Talgat Baitaziyev, Director General of Atyrau Oil Refinery says.
