Oil shipment via Atasu-Alashankou exceeds 6 mln tons since early 2009
BEIJING. November 4. KAZINFORM. /Ruslan Suleimenov/ According to the customs bodies of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, from the beginning of 2009 the volume of oil supplies via Atasu-Alashankou pipeline exceeded 6 million tons increasing by 20% as compared to the analogous period of last year.
The construction of the pipeline from Atasu to Alashankou started in 2004. The first Kazakh crude oil was transported to the Chinese frontier point of Alashankou on May 25, 2006.
Since then, the increase in oil transportation though this pipeline has made 20%. To date the total volume of oil supplies exceeds 18 million tons.
