ASTANA. 04.02.2010. KAZINFORM. /Damir Baimanov/ Kazakhstan is holding negotiations with France on attraction of a concessional loan for the construction of a light rail tram in Astana. Akim of Astana Imangali Tasmagambetov has made it public today. "The issue on attraction of a concessional loan by the Government of France, which has already allocated the initial grant of EURO 570 thousand, is under consideration presently. The mentioned funds were spent for the development of a feasibility study", the Akim noted. The project of a 61.1-km light rail tram is supposed to be implemented in 4 stages. The tram will provide rapid and comfortable travel for the citizens and unclog traffic in the city.
