Kazakhstan to keep the status of the world leader of flour exports

ASTANA. 10.03.2010. KAZINFORM According to the forecast of the International Grains Council (IGC), in the current season, Kazakhstan will again keep the status of the world leader of flour exports. According to estimations of the experts, in 2009/10 MY, the country will increase flour exports compared to 2008/09 MY. According to renewed estimations of the organization, at the end of the current season, the general volumes of Kazakh wheat exports will reach the level of 3 mln tonnes, an increase of 0.2 mln tonnes compared to the previous forecast of IGC, and up 0.25 mln tonnes compared to the export index last season. In the current season, flour export rates exceed the last season indices: during the first six months of 2009/10 MY, Kazakhstan supplied 1.9 mln tonnes of flour on the foreign market, up 29% compared to six months of 2008/09 MY. As a reminder, countries of the Central Asia (Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan) are the main importers of Kazakh flour, however in the current season, the country expects for enlargement of the geography of Kazakh grain supplies. One of the main themes of the International Grain Conference in Astana city (April 1-2, 2010, Kazakhstan, Rixos President Hotel) is the issue of promotion of Kazakh grains and flour on new markets. Also, in the period of the conference work, the organizers plan to draw attention to the issues of the activation of cooperation of grain markets of the CIS countries (Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan), realization of direct contracting between foreign companies and Kazakh market participants, activation of exchange market trading in the grain sector of economics, and other separate aspects of the international grain trading (logistics, juridical aspects and etc.), Kazinform refers to the press service of the Kazakhstan Embassy in Israel.
