ALMATY. 25.03.2010. KAZINFORM. /Yekaterina Ionova/ V International Symposium on Refining, Petrochemistry and Oil Products KazRefinEx-2010 has been opened in Almaty today. The event is organized by Caspian Business Events under the aegis of Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund, Kazakh Ministry of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Environmental Protection, KazEnergy Association, Association of Oil Refiners and Petrochemists of Russia. Since 2005 the symposium has been a dialogue platform for the major players in the oil market, businessmen and scientists of Kazakhstan, CIS and non-CIS countries. "Kazakhstan is actively developing petrochemical sector. In his annual address to the nation the Head of the State paid much attention to the necessity of developing this industry. He noted that Kazakhstan should turn from supplier of raw materials into a country producing goods with high added value", Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Asset Magauov said. He informed that it was planned to reconstruct three oil refineries of Kazakhstan so that domestic products meet the highest environmental standards and fully cover needs of the domestic market. The presentation of the first Oil and Gas Club of Kazakhstan and the first sitting of the Coordination Council for selection of oil products will be held within the framework of the symposium.
