ALMATY. 03.06.2010. KAZINFORM /Yekaterina Ionova/ Kazatomprom National Atomic Company JSC and Japan's Toshiba Corporation entered today into an agreement on establishment of a joint venture for exploration, development, extraction, manufacture and sale of rare metal and rare earth products and materials. Development and production and rare and rare earth metals is a new direction for Kazatomprom. The point at issue is establishment of a brand new type of enterprises in the country - intensive productions - which will give positive impulse to development of Kazakhstani science and staff training. Rare and rare earth metals and their compounds possess unique complex of physical and chemical features which determine the sphere of their usage: instrument making, engineering and metallurgy, nuclear energy, radio electronics, optics, chemical and glass industry, agriculture and medicine. According to the experts, Japan manufactures over 50% of the global high technology products on the basis of rare and rare earth metals.
