2 July 2014, AKTAU. KAZINFORM - Today during the national teleconference with the participation of President Nursultan Nazarbayev the new production - plant "Caspi Cement" has been launched in the village of Shetpe in Mangystau region.

The project was implemented by HeidelbergCement Company which has factories and enterprises in more than 40 countries worldwide. The general contractor and equipment supplier was the Chinese company CDI, part of the SINOMA corporate group.

The construction of the project was carried out under the state program of forced industrial-innovative development of Kazakhstan. It became the major cement plant in the western region of the republic. 

"The plant will use raw materials from the surrounding fields. The factory employed 400 workers from the local community which is fully consistent with government policy in terms of increasing local content", said Mayor of the region Alik Aidarbayev. 

The plant has modern equipment and its operation is fully automated. Production capacity is 1 million tons of cement of different brands (300-800) per year. The total investment amounted to 200 million euros.
