Amendment according to which first President can run for president\'s post unlimited number of times introduced to Constitution
Astana. May 18. Kazakhstan Today - The Parliament of Kazakhstan at the joint session of the Chambers voted for the amendment to the Constitution, according to which the first President of the country Nursultan Nazarbayev can run for the president's post unlimited number of times, the agency reports.
Today at the joint session of the Chambers of the Parliament the group of deputies proposed that item 4 of clause 42 of the Constitution, which states that "the same person cannot be elected the President of Kazakhstan more than two times successively," does not extend to the first President.
"The commission supported the proposal that the first President can run for the post unlimited number of times," the deputy of the Senate, the head of the joint commission of the Chambers of the Parliament Yermek Zhumabayev said at the joint session. The majority of the deputies of both Chambers of the Parliament supported the proposal.
