USAID to finance Kazakhstan programs for $15.5 million in 2007
Almaty. June 28. Kazakhstan Today - In 2007 USAID will finance Kazakhstan programs for the sum of $15.5 million, the agency reports referring to the information of the organization.
According to USAID, the part of the funds ($6.5 million) will be allocated within the limits of realization of the Kazakhstan-American program of economic development, which has officially started on May 5, 2006.
11 projects will be realized in 2007 within the limits of the program that will promote consolidation of the economic reform to increase competition in Kazakhstan, development of market relations in agriculture in Central Asia, liberalization of regional trade and carrying out of the customs reform.
As it was informed earlier, within the limits of realization program of economic development Kazakhstan and the USA will grant $40 million from 2006 till 2009, $10 million annually. Co-financing of the government of Kazakhstan began with 25 % in the first year and will reach 50 % in the final year of realization of the program.
Since 1992 USAID has provided more than $500 million for the programs of assistance to Kazakhstan.
