Informatization Agency signed memorandum of cooperation with a number of companies participating in realization of Ahik Alem project
Astana. July 11. Kazakhstan Today - The Informatization and Communication Agency signed the memorandum of mutual understanding and cooperation with a number of companies participating in realization of Ashik Alem project, the agency reports.
According to the Agency press service, the National Information Technologies Company, Kazpochta, Kazakhtelecom, Microsoft Kazakhstan, corporation Intel Technologies, Inc, Logocom, Glotur, and the Association of IT-companies have signed the memorandum.
"The purpose of signing the memorandum - joint acceptance of large-scale and long-term initiatives on realization of the project on provision the population with the affordable personal computers equipped with modern information tools for professional work, continuous self-education, intellectual leisure and dialogue, and preferential access to the Internet," the Informatization Agency states.
The main idea of Ashi Alem project consists that each citizen of Kazakhstan beginning since August of 2007 can purchase a personal computer at the price below market. Within the project the companies that signed the memorandum will build personal computers with the software on the basis Intel/Microsoft platforms. It will be possible to obtain such a computer in any post office of joint-stock company Kazpochta and in retail networks of the companies-producers.
