KARAGANDA OBLAST. August 3. KAZINFORM /Aigul Tulekbayeva/ - Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov has attended a number of objects in Balkhash town, Karaganda oblast (region of Kazakhstan). Among them are the nonferrous metal working plant, Kazakhmys Corporation, zinc plant, precious metals workshop of Balkhashtsvetmet copper-smelting plant. “Corporate leaders should become more competitive in order to work up the world market”, Kazakh Premier noted during the visit. The nonferrous metal working plant puts out more than 30 production lines on the basis of copper and its alloys. Besides, according to the Strategy of Industrially Innovative Development of Kazakhstan, it is expected to launch the production of beryllium bronze for electronic and oil industry and sphere of communications. Cost of the project is KZT 700 million. The production is planned to be exported to Europe and South Asian countries. Then Mr. Massimov arrived in Zhezkazgan town. There he will visit central heating-and-power plant, copper-smelting plant of Kazakhmys Corporation and Zhezkazganredmet republican state enterprise.
