Russian Copper to spend US$614 m on plants in Kazakhstan
LONDON. August 27. KAZINFORM. Russian Copper Co, the third-biggest producer of the metal in Russia, will invest 77 billion tenge (US$614 million) to build ore-processing plants and a copper smelter in Kazakhstan, the Central Asian nation`s Economy Ministry said.
The company will build the plants by 2013, the Astana-based ministry said in an August 20 faxed statement. The plants will have a capacity of 46,000 t of copper concentrate, 50,000 t of zinc concentrate and 40,000 t of copper products, the ministry said.
The Yekaterinburg-based company said in June it plans to almost double production of copper cathode to 300,000 t by 2010, Kazinform refers to Bloomberg.
