Commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and Russia in 2007 to reach $16 billion
Astana. October 5. Kazakhstan Today - Commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and Russia in 2007 will reach $16 billion, the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said during negotiations with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
According to the press service of the Kazakhstan President, the meeting of the leaders of two states took place within the limits of the Forum of frontier regions of Kazakhstan and Russia. N. Nazarbayev and V. Putin held negotiations in narrow structure, during which the questions of further development of strategic partnership of two countries were discussed.
According to the president's press service, during the forum the Agreement on the Kazakhstan-Russian cooperation in the field of marine transport, the program of economic cooperation for 2008 - 2010, cooperation in humanitarian area for 2007 - 2010, frontier cooperation of the regions of Kazakhstan and Russia for 2008 - 2011 were signed. The Protocol on the main directions of cooperation of customs services for 2008, the Cooperation agreement in the regions between the Foreign Trade and Investment Bank of Russia and the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, administration of Novosibirsk oblast and akimat of the Eastern Kazakhstan oblast.
The first forum of the leaders of frontier regions of Kazakhstan and Russia took place in April, 2003 in Omsk, the next - by N. Nazarbayev's offer - decided to be held in September, 2008 in Kostanay.
According to the president's press service, in the first half-year the Kazakhstan-Russian commodity turnover made $7.3 billion, having increased in comparison with the similar period of last year by 33 %.
