2007 proclaimed Year of Kazakhstan in Ukraine
Astana. February 5. In Ukraine 2007 has been proclaimed the Year of Kazakhstan, in Kazakhstan 2008 will be the Year of Ukraine.
As it was informed earlier, on Friday Nursultan Nazarbayev and Victor Yushchenko opened the Year of Kazakhstan in Ukraine.
The Kazakh President noted that bilateral commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and Ukraine in 2005 exceeded $1 billion and in 2006 totaled $1.6 billion.
The political block will organize the solemn opening and closing of the Year of Kazakhstan in Ukraine. The economic block will conduct business-forums and international exhibitions. In scientific and technical sphere conferences, round tables are planned. The information block provides mass media coverage of two countries events conducted during the Year of the Republic Kazakhstan as well as joint media projects.
The visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Kiev lasted for two days. N. Nazarbayev and Victor Yushchenko held negotiations and signed a number of bilateral documents following the results of the talks. The Presidents took part in Kazakh-Ukrainian business forum. N. Nazarbayev visited the Supreme Rada of Ukraine and met the Chairman of the upper chamber of the Parliament Alexander Moroz. The President discussed the questions of strengthening of trade and economic relations of two countries with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Victor Yanukovich. After the opening ceremony of the Year of Kazakhstan in Ukraine N. Nazarbayev's official visit to Kiev came to the end. On Friday evening the Kazakhstan leader left for Astana.
