NATO strengthens military cooperation with Kazakhstan
ASTANA. February 6. Defense Minister of Kazakhstan Daniyal Akhmetov met with Robert Simmons, the NATO’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia on Tuesday in Astana, Kazinform refers to press service of the Kazakh Defense Ministry.
At the meeting the sides exchanged opinions on the issues regarding international and regional security, counter-terrorism, energy security, interaction with various regional organizations. They also gave consideration to the implementation of the Individual Partnership Action Plan with the Alliance agreed by Kazakhstan in January 2006.
Mr. Akhmetov and the foreign diplomat underlined that Kazakhstan and NATO managed to achieve notable success in some directions of bilateral cooperation. They also touched upon further prospects for collaboration between the Alliance and the republic including strengthening dialogue and interaction in defense sphere reformation.
