Russia buys coal-mining complex from China
BEIJING. February 7. KAZINFORM. -- One of Russia's leading mining and metallurgical companies, Mechel, has bought for the first time the latest coal mining technological complex from China, Boris Nikishichev, the senior vice president of the company's mining production, told here on Tuesday.
Chinese equipment, to be used at Olzherasskaya-Novaya mine of Yuzhny Kuzbass company, a subsidiary of Mechel, was chosen for its unique qualities, Nikishichev said. He said back in the 60s Russian designers worked out similar equipment but Chinese specialists brought it to perfection.
The complex can strip at one go a layer of coal up to ten metres thick, cuts losses in brining coal to the surface and ensures high safety standards.
Mechel is one of the three biggest coal producers in Russia, rates second for the output of grade rolled metal and is a major producer of steel and alloys, Kazinform quotes Itar-Tass.
