January gold and exchange currency reserves of Kazakhstan grew by 3.4 %

Almaty. January 17. Kazakhstan Today - International reserves of the country as a whole (in current prices), including money of the National fund (by preliminary data total $21 300.7 million), increased by 3.4 % and made $39 755.1 million, the agency reports referring to the National Bank of the Republic. Growth of net international reserves of the National Bank in the first half of January 2008 caused expansion of monetary base by 4.8 % (or by 69.7 billion KZT). Net international reserves of the National Bank in current prices grew by 6.1 % (or $1 062.0 million). Income of currency at the government accounts in the National Bank, increase of the rests at the correspondent accounts of the banks of the second level in foreign currency in the National Bank have been partially neutralized by sale of currency in the internal currency market. As a result, net foreign currency reserves (hard currency) have increased by $926.5 million, assets in gold - by $135.5 million, as a result of growth of its price in the world markets by 10.0 %.
