Prime Minister charged Kazcosmos management to consider development of Baikonur after 2016

Astana. February 1. Kazakhstan Today - The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov charged the management of the National Space Agency of Kazakhstan to consider the problem of development of cosmodrome Baikonur after commissioning of the Russian cosmodrome East in 2016. The assignment was given today during the session of the agency, the agency reports. The chairman of the National Space Agency of Kazakhstan Talgat Musabayev noted, "such a rare turn in development of space activity of Russia as construction of the new cosmodrome was unexpected for us." "The rent of the Russian Federation of cosmodrome Baikonur was expected to last till 2050, but the decision of the Russian government on creation and introduction into operation in 2016 of the cosmodrome East with all the consequences has been accepted," the chairman of the state agency reminded. In this connection, he considers it necessary to discuss "at one of the sessions of the republican council for space the question of preservation of prospects of further development of Baikonur complex. "One of the ways of the effective solution of problems of the cosmodrome is transfer on balance to one of our enterprises of the objects of property complex Baikonur," T. Musabayev considers.
