February gold and exchange currency reserves of Kazakhstan increased by 2.2 %

Almaty. March 4. Kazakhstan Today - The international reserves of the country (in current prices), including money of the National fund (according to the preliminary estimates $22 579.0 million), have grown by 2.2 % and have made $41 624.7 million, the agency reports referring to the message of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Growth of net internal assets of the National Bank in February, 2008 caused expansion of monetary base by 4.6 % (or by 70.0 billion KZT). Purchase of currency in the internal currency market, income of currency at the accounts of the government in the National Bank have been neutralized by operations on updating the assets of the National fund, and service of external debt of the government. Besides there was a decrease in the rests on the correspondent accounts of the banks of the second level in foreign currency in the National Bank. As a result, net foreign currency reserves (hard currency) have decreased by $213.3 million, assets in gold have grown by $98.6 million, as a result of growth of its price on the world markets by 4.9 %. In the current prices net international reserves of the National Bank have decreased by 0.6 % (or by $114.7 million).
