Kazakhstan temir zholy chairman arrested on suspicion of receiving bribe of $100 thousand

Kazakhstan Today - The chairman of Kazakhstan temir zholy Zhaksybek Kelekeev has been arrested on suspicion of receiving a bribe of $100 thousand, the official representative of the State Office of Public Prosecutor of Kazakhstan Saparbek Nurpeisov informed today, the agency reports.
As it was informed earlier, Z. Kulekeev was arrested on April 1 by the employees of the Agency for struggle against economic and corruption criminality of Kazakhstan.
Z. Kulekeev was appointed to the post of the chairman of Kazakhstan temir zholy on May 28, 2007.
As it was informed earlier, the first vice chairman of Kazakhstan temir zholy Kazhimurat Nagmanov has been appointed the acting chairman of the company by the decision of the operating company Samruk holding, the agency reports referring to the press service of the company.
Kazakhstan temir zholy draws attention of mass media and the public that the work of the national company proceeds in the usual mode. The company carries out its work providing transportation of cargoes and transportation of passengers. According to the initial plans, the programs of development approved by the operating company Samruk holding and the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been realized.
"The messages of anonymous sources in mass media about numerous arrests of the experts of the company are rumors having nothing to do with the reality. Financial police agency has officially informed of the arrest of the chairman of the company who is now being under investigation. Kazakhstan temir zholy suggests to be guided by the constitutional principle of presumption of innocence, "according to which a citizen is recognized guilty only by decision of the court," the company's press service informs.
